Win Two Tickets to The Festival of Vintage 2017

Festival of Vintage 2017

Well, what do you know, we’ve got another competition! Yes folks, that’s right, if you didn’t win the 1930s crochet hat you still could be in with a chance of winning two tickets to The Festival of Vintage at York Racecourse at the end of April.

I have never been to the Festival of Vintage before but the last few of years I have been very envious of everyone’s photos posted on social media from the event. It always looks amazing with so much going on. This well established event has been running for 7 years now and has become the place to go for all things nostalgic during the Spring. It’s no wonder really because it is lovingly put together by vintage aficionado Keeley Harris, author of Style Me Vintage Home (it’s a fabulous book, go and buy it!).

Miss Bamboo 20th Century Chap

Of course, there will be loads of shopping to do with a whopping 200 hand-picked vintage sellers from across the UK and 50 top notch reproduction brands, selling vintage fashion, homewares, music and more, so be sure to bring lots of money! Some of my favourites will be there such as The House of Foxy (top left), Pretty Retro (top right), Miss Bamboo (bottom left) and 20th century Chap (bottom right) and you can bet they’ll be bringing their latest collections, so you’ll be among the first to get to try them on.

Best dressed vintage at The Festival of Vintage

The Marks and Spencer Archive team will also be there providing a fashion show of their favourite vintage pieces, as well as doing a Q&A session. This should definitely not be missed as you will get the chance to speak to the experts who know everything about fashion and retail during your cherished decades. There will other unmissable fashion shows such as reproduction vintage from The House of Foxy and genuine vintage from Purple Rabbit Vintage, as well as other talks and the ever popular Best Dressed competition.

Vintage dance lessons

If you’re into your vintage music or love a chance to get up on the dance floor and show off your moves, there will be a plethora of acts to provide those all important tunes. Each one performs their own unique take on different styles of the past and on Saturday make sure you catch The Ashby Tea Dance Band, The Roachville Rockers and many more. Then on the Sunday you’ll be treated to The Bevin Boys, The Jive Aces and Ma Bessie to name a few.

And if you’ve never been brave enough to try Lindy Hop, the Charleston, or any of the other well-known dance style of the 1930s – 1960s, then why not take advantage of the many dance lessons available. Each one comes free as part of your ticket, so there’s no excuse to not give it a go.

Make Do & Mend Workshops

But if dancing isn’t your thing, then why not try your hand at one of the many crafting workshops available throughout the weekend. Each one is themed around the Make Do & Mend philosophy of the the mid-20th Century. The Blacksmith Shop Crafts will be providing the all important guidance to get you fixing up your beloved vintage pieces and make them last for many years to come.

And, if that wasn’t enough for you, there’ll be an impressive classic car display outside, the Vintage Chaps Lounge, the Collectors Corner, and The Vintage Beauty Parlour who will expertly create the look you want from your chosen era through hairstyling and makeup. Just be sure to book a slot in advance by contacting them before you go as they’re filling up fast.

If the answer is yes, then all you need to do is leave a comment below telling me why you’d want to go and one winner will be chosen at random to win two tickets for the entire weekend. Just remember you will need to make your own way there, so make sure you’re able to go before entering.

The giveaway runs from today’s date (3rd April 2017) until 11:59 GMT on Sunday 9th April 2017.

  1. I can’t get to the Chalke Vally History Festival this year and I’m sad. But I’d love to go to this instead. I love period stuff!

    • I’d not heard of the Chalke Vally History Festival but I’ve just had a look at their website. That looks really interesting and not a million miles away from me. It’s a shame you can’t go but good luck with winning these tickets! xx

  2. I’ve never been before but planned on going last year until hubby had to work last minute. I was so disappointed not to make it. I’ve been ill with chronic pain since October so I think a vintage infused weekend away will be the perfect medicine to lift life’s stresses!

  3. I’d want to go to the festival of vintage as I have just finished my first year at university and goodness me it’s been difficult. I’ve thought of dropping out so many times but I said to myself, after you finish for summer (on Thursday) your treat can be going to the festival of vintage, I’ve been saving £20 a week for the last three months so I can do some well deserved frivolous spending and getting free ticket soon would be the icing on the the cake xxx

    • I remember going through that at Uni too, so well done for sticking with it (my course was 5 years, so a long slog!). The Festival of Vintage would be a brilliant way to unwind and treat yourself. They’ll be so many pretties to choose from! xx

  6. My husband and I are mad about the 1930s. Winning the tickets would give us a chance to immerse ourselves in the decade and give us inspiration for the renovation of the lounge in our 1930s house.

    • Hoorah for the 1930s! I’m sure you’ll find loads of inspiration at the festival. It’s great that they include the 1930s as it’s so often overlooked. xx

I was going to go last year but unfortunately had to work:( I am 18 and would love the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing festival! I would take full advantage of the tickets and endulge myself in everything the festival has to offer! 10. I held a stall here last year, an amazing event! But stopped trading due to a full time job as a scientist and becoming a mother. Would be awesome to be picked and experience it from a buyers point.

    • Wow, yes, I can imagine being a full time scientist and mother would take time away from trading vintage! 🙂 xx

  13. I would love to go. My hubby and I really enjoy dressing up for the Haworth 1940s weekend each year and we’ve been to a few other 40s events. I also love 1960s style clothes and watching all the different styles of dancing. I might even persuade my other half to join in a jive.
