The Big Move!

This Friday I will be leaving the beautiful Victorian house I’ve lived in for the last ten years and will be moving into a sweet little Georgian house that was once just two rooms, one upstairs and one down (it’s a tad bigger now though!).

Not only is it a relocation but it’s also going to be a lifestyle change. I’ll be going from the chaos and bustle of one of the largest towns in the south west to a sleepy, quiet and rather charming market town where the few shops in the centre close at lunchtime on a Saturday and don’t reopen until the Monday. It’ll be like going back to the 1950s. Perfect for me then!

The big move

Currently every single one of my rooms looks like the photo above with boxes piled on top of boxes, dismantled furniture and horrible empty walls. It’s heartbreaking to see the home I have put my heart and soul into reduced to a collection of stuff. I can’t wait to get moved so I can get everything back out and feel like I’m home again. Weirdly, the things I miss the most are my books which have been packed away for about a month now.

The big move

This will definitely be me on Friday. I’m not looking forward to the actual move, the excruciating wait for the estate agent to call and say the keys have have been released, the mayhem of not knowing where anything is and that strange feeling that you’re in someone else’s home. But, at the same time, I’m excited about putting my stamp on what is quite a basically decorated house and starting a new life in a town where I know absolutely no-one!

As I begin to make it my own I will start posting the transformation of each room and I have set myself a rule, don’t buy modern when you can buy vintage. So, I am already on the hunt for a 1960s Louis style kidney shaped dressing table, a mid-Century armchair and vintage kitchen storage jars. I know it’ll take longer but I don’t care, I know I’ll be happier in the long run.

In the mean time, whilst I get settled there’s likely to be a period of radio silence on the blog, although I’ll likely still be on Twitter, Facebook and etc. But I will be back and I’ll have loads to talk about. So wish me luck and I’ll see you on the other side!
