Michael Kors Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear

Yes, you read that right, I’m doing a post on a designer’s range that hasn’t even come out yet! Stop the press, I’m actually writing about the future and not the past. And no, I haven’t lost my mind.

Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2015

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, I was a fashion student studying hard, following all of the latest up-and-coming trends and even trying to set some of my own. Nowadays, although I seem to have lost any knowledge of what is going on in the high street (which I’m actually glad about) I still like to keep an eye on what is going on during the different fashion weeks.

Last week it was the turn of New York and designers were showing their ranges for Spring/Summer 2015. The one that stood out for me, which will become obvious I promise, is Michael Kors.

I’ve been a fan of Michael Kors for a long time. He has a way of cutting clothes that is so sharp and clean that really appeals to the tailor in me (something I focused on during my degree). His designs are extremely wearable and I have drooled over so many outfits desperately wanting to buy them. If only I had a pay packet that would stretch that far!

His latest catwalk display is no different, especially because he seems to have been inspired by my favourite era (and one I wear the most), the 1950s. The collection features calf length full skirts, 1950s style jeans with turn ups and pressed seams, seriously cute summer dresses, gingham, floral prints in bright retro colours, high-waisted bikinis and beachwear that wouldn’t look out of place on Brigitte Bardot.

I absolutely love the print on this bikini and matching jacket. It’s just so bright and summery and looks like an original 1950s print.

This outfit is just perfect for hanging around somewhere like St Tropez or Biarritz. It’s just so nautical and I love the modern take of the cats eye sunglasses.

This is definitely one of my favourite dresses of the collection. It’s unusual to see green gingham in vintage style fashion, usually it’s blue or red, and I absolutely adore that neckline.

This coat is just so cleanly cut. It’s elegant and chic with a real vintagey vibe. I could definitely do with a coat like this in the spring.

So what do you think of the Michael Kors collection? Which piece is your favourite?

  1. it’s a very good collection, totally wearable. I really love the below the knee and below the calf skirt lengths.

  2. An excellent collection, very vintage inspired and wearable. Good. It means it will trickle down to less expensive brands, which is a bonus for me as I won’t be able to afford the real thing!! x
