Every couple of months there is an amazing flea market at the Shepton Mallet show ground. It is so vast and has such an amazing variety of goods to pick up and haggle over. I have in the past bought some fantastic loot such as an old trunk to use as a coffee table, a Victorian hall stand, a vintage glass jelly mould and much, much more.
The latest market was held today and as usual we hit the road in search of things we never knew we needed. So what did I get this time?
Firstly this gorgeous black 1960s vanity case…
It’s in pretty good nick with only a couple of marks on the red lining. Whenever I’ve seen these vanity cases they have always had marks on the exterior or the lining has come loose somewhere and the current owner wants about £15 for it but I got this one at the bargain price of £4!
I also picked up this amazing knitting book from the 1950s. It is stuffed with knitting patterns for all the family. I fell in love with it the minute I picked it up and I just had to have it. We knocked her down from £6 to £5 (you’ve always got to try and haggle with them even if you just save a few pence!). I just need someone to teach me how to knit now!
For £1 I got this lovely vintage scarf. It’s perfect for summer nautical looks and I’m sure I will be wearing constantly. Just a little tip, never pay more than a couple of quid for a vintage scarf, you’ll always find one cheaper just around the corner, they’re everywhere.
Lastly , I picked up a couple of albums for £3.50. This is always a given whenever I go to a flea market, car boot or charity shop. I love listening to music on vinyl, whether it be on my record player or gramophone. Today I was a little disappointed there weren’t many 78s for sale but I did get a couple of 80s classics, Prince and A-ha. Fantastic!
